Grace Digital Wireless Hi-fi Internet Radio Tuner featuring Pandora and NPR (GDI-IRDT200)

My first wi-fi tuner experience is great, (What's this?) This Grace tuner works great & is just what I wanted & expected. Installation requires paying attention to the instructions, since it sequences from your wireless router & computer system - i.e. file sharing has to be turned on to access your Pandora settings, iTunes files & so forth. I'll probably get a free standing small wi-fi radio for another location in our house as a result of my good experience with this.
I love it, (What's this?) I ordered this to give myself more options of things to listen. Fedex delivered it the day of my daughters Halloween party. Setting it up was a breeze and we actually found a Halloween station. Very appropriate for the night. I was also able to link up to my Sirius account easily, and have not even scratched the surface of what it can do. Like I said in the title, I love it.
Grace GDI-IRDT200 Tuner, (What's this?) For this price is tuner good build quality. I like his possibility to set display - light in three states ( active - not active - standby ). It's a great idea. Sound quality is adequate to received format ( MP3's some with poor quality - not fault of this tuner ). For me is a little shortage - if I push Select Dial, tuner slides back - is too light. I think, Wifi - Antenna could be a little longer. FM is nothing special, but is present. Overall I'm very satisfied.
Music Lovers-Roll Over, (What's this?) This product is awesome! It will bring you tons of commercial free stations from all over the world and in most languages. It was easy to set-up and it offers something for everybody.I hooked it up wireless and I am getting a full strength signal even while having many other wireless products being used at the same time. I had a Sirius (only) radio that would cut-out all the time. This is a great product and it will bring your favorite songs, news, sport, talk, ect; to you for free on thousands of stations with a clear quality. I am totally happy with this product and would recomend it to all.
A good internet radio appliance bargain, but its not a '5' for me, (What's this?) Most other reviewer ratings are pretty accurate as far as usability and value. The Grace GDI-IRDT200 is a unique, rare find - a true internet radio tuner made to compliment an existing audio system. Audiophiles will like its clean rack format and analog, optical and digital outputs. It has a pretty decent analog FM tuner - it picked up most local FM stations with its little 3 foot supplied antenna, where as my vintage higher end NAD and Marantz gear insist on a large attic FM antenna.

So take my 3 stars and the following with a grain of salt since this is a high value unit at $150 (a Grace refurbished unit from Amazon, which looked like brand new) - it's not reasonable for me to be too picky at this price level.

Interface: As others have noted, the interface is dated and you will be pressing a LOT of buttons. Button-city is is OK for one time setup duties, but not for daily operation since at some point you want to relax and easily change music and not be a button minion. It has the same poor ergonomics as many badly designed after market car stereo head units, so if you are OK with those, you are OK here. Sadly, basic functions like simple front panel/remote control one-push presets buttons to switch between my favorite stations and my local DLNA/UPnP media server, are missing from the Grace - and in all fairness, from almost all other modern audio gear (when did endless, serial menus, needed to accomplish basic functions, became desirable to consumers, other than for cost savings?). A web browser interface, like used for home networking gear, would go a long way.

Operation: The unit was decent to setup and wifi configuration was no more complicated than a basic router or firewall network appliance, WAP, dedicated IP and all. It quickly found my 3COM wifi access point and never had a single wifi issue during a few days of 24 hour use. The unit is good looking, well made, it does not run hot - an issue for other appliances like fanless DVRs, some of which will overheat themselves to death.
fun, fast, expands your horizons, (What's this?) its almost as easy to use as the directions say
hooks-up to your wireless and to your stereo
and gives access to all the broadcasters worldwide who have an internet site.
WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE?????????, (What's this?) This thing is the BEST!!!!!I was a bit intimidated at first but set up was a breeze once I got the code numbers off the bottom of my wireless internet box. Follow directions in the manual and wha la la la!!!! Unbelievable! Soooo many stations to hear. And Pandora sounds great on my stereo too. So long old school tuner. It's a whole new world.
Don't be afraid.....jump on in!!!You won't regret it. Now I gotta get a Roku and so long Time Warner too!!!!!!!
And what a great deal I got from Amazon with the points I didn't even know I had.
So long to xM, (What's this?) Set it up in less than 10 minutes and was listening to a wide variety of stations including Pandora. Finding and changing stations is cumbersome, but once you have a short list it is manageable to work with. Loved being able to drop xM and replace it with commercial free Pandora for only $36 a year, will more than pay for itself in no time. Have had for more than a month, no problems whatsoever, have been using wirelessly only, and no problems. Love it.
Grace Internet Tuner, This radio is everything I expected and more. It connected with my wireless network, after I entered the key, and I found thousands of stations to listen to. It also can play podcasts.
Does NOT work with SiriusXm, When trying to access SiriusXm, the unit inexplicably fails to connect to several stations, 3 of which I listen to regularly (66, 75, 107). The message "unable to connect" appears on the screen. Grace Digital customer service, working with SiriusXm, has acknowledged the issue and said they "have heard of this before" but has not been able to correct the problem within the past two weeks.
Find another solution to download SiriusXm to your receiver if you want access to SiriusXm!

Edited 10-11-11. I was able to figure out a solution to the above problem & shared the info with Grace and SiriusXm. See the response.

Bose® Wave® Music System with Multi-CD Changer -- Graphite Gray

Bose® Wave® Music System with Multi-CD Changer -- Graphite Gray, I really like the sound of the Bose and the fact that it is much smaller and takes up less space than the old stereo system I used to have.
Beautiful, I am enjoying my Bose Wave System to be abel to listen to more than one (CD) while working around the house or just sitting and relaxing and enjoythe sound coming from my Bose
    Thank You.
A Great Gadget, (What's this?) I took a long time getting around to buying this, and I can't imagine why. It delivers all it promises and is worth the price.
Wonderful system, (What's this?) After reading the reviews and giving it a lot of thought, I finally purchased the Bose system with the mult-cd changer. It was very easy to hook up and I love the sound. I have a small area and I needed a compact unit and this fits in perfectly. I guess the only negative thing is the price. The price is a little high but I know I have a good quality item.
Lots of sound in a small package, (What's this?) I've been looking at the Bose music system for years, but kept putting it off. For one thing, I was suspicious about the sound quality out of a tabletop radio. But the Bose ads are right -- it's terrific. You can actually feel the bass reverb. And the unit has a tiny footprint, too, which is great in an apartment.

In addition, my 19-inch HDTV has always had an inadequate volume level -- even turned all the way up, street noise would drown out the TV. I've been able to plug the audio from the TV into the aux jack on the back of the CD changer -- so now my TV has great sound, too! (Hint: If you don't want this project to cost you an arm and a leg for a digital-to-analog audio converter box, get a Y cable with a miniplug on one end and dual RCA cables on the other, and run the audio out from your TV's headphone jack.
Great Sound at High Price with Technical Issues, We own three Bose products. One is just the radio. Second is radio with one CD compartment. Third is the above product, which is the radio with the Multi-CD Changer. Except for the stand alone radio, we have had issues with the other units playing CD's. The single CD player has hard time starting the music, meaning the disc spins and spins until you manually stop it and then restart it to play. To manually stop the CD from spinning, I open the top lid and put the finger on the CD. This is an older design that Bose no longer sells, hence the top lid. It contains the unit buttons at the top, too, which I love. The last piece we own is the Multi-CD changer, which is the above unit for sale. It refuses to play any CD in the top compartment. It went bad soon after it was purchased, but I had a baby and I did not get around to have it fixed before the warrenty expired. In summary, I love the Bose sound, hate its price and the problems with CD playing and miss the control buttons at the top of new units.
great, (What's this?) This purchase was a gift for Christmas. So therefor I have not used the Bose Wave. But I enjoy shopping with Amazon.
Cheap Junk Still Made In China, The reviews all over including QVC which has fallen greatly in the Quality they now sell... will tell you this is overpriced junk. Its always falling apart... breaking down and we must realize that no matter what the price - the junk is still made in CHINA... nothing is MADE in the USA... The wealthy r getting wealthier and we poor r getting poorer and now they're getting richer by paying 5.00 to have something made than shipping it into the USA and marking it up by 300 percent.
Excellent Bose Wave Music System w/multi-CD Changer, (What's this?) This Music System with CD Changer is EXCELLENT! I should have bought this a long time ago! It's compact so that you can place it anywhere in your home, apt., condo, and the CD Changer sits directly below the system and produces great sound throughout my home (2,250 sq. foot home). It's also easy to connect and has a nice slim remote control with an extra one. I am so happy with this system that I purchased the speakers to get an even LOUDER, sound for parties, BBQ's which can be heard outside in the pool area.
High price for strange behavior, it was working nicely for a few years. That seems like a long time but for 750 dollars it should last a very long time. All of a sudden this year around Feb the changer starts having a hiccup like sound like old fashioned record skipping. So I opened it up to clean out any dust that has accumulated. Using special compressed air in a can for delicate instruments it made no difference. There was no real sign of dust anyway. However when the humidity increased every thing was fine. When the A/C was turned on and it got dryer again, the changer stopped working. Now the main deck won't respond to any command but on/off and volume. The disc won't eject. None of them will. The main deck won't play more than the first 9 tracks. It will need to go to the Bose Hospital for a fortune's worth of work. This started after the 3 year warranty expired. Neat. Phone calls to them were of no help. Too much money. I have a serious Pioneer 300 disc carousel changer that is over 10 years old and it's fine. Sad since the sound was fine for the small space we were using it in. For serious work, we have real HiFi equipment.

Coby DVD938 5.1-Channel DVD Home Theater System (Black)

Perfect, arrived in time., (What's this?) Perfect, arrived in time. 100% nuevo y perfecto, de verdad es una persona responsable lo felicito por la rapidez del envio.
confusing at first, (What's this?) once i first got this i was really excited. i opened it up, plug the speakers in by color, then turned on a movie. they werent working at first only the front 2 speakers and the subwoofer. but the back speakers and center turn on AUTOMATICALLY. so if you dont har sound at first it will come. also it has a good sound quality. one bad thing is its only a DVD player and doesnt work on the TV fro cable or anything. still good quality speakers. not wireless but still good for a small room like a bedroom.
    Wonderful, (What's this?)
Coby DVD Home Theater System, (What's this?) It was a gift for my daughter for her new TV and she loves it and constantly thanks her big mommy.
Not the best ...but will do ..., (What's this?) Well I just got this theater system 11/19/2011 .. Price was okay. well Due to its quality being not that great I think 10 to 20 dollars cheaper would have been a bit better. But in all for a small bed room or kids play room.. Its a decent system. Don't buy if you want a serious home theater system like for your living room or man cave. Wait and save up to buy a better one with a powered subwoofer and possibly a better receiver/amplifier. This one has a tin sound to the speakers and if you turn it up the speakers crackle really bad. But keeping it half way up seemed alright. Also make sure your t.v. has regular RCA out... This system does not have any HDMI or optical ports. It does have component video though. Luckily I only needed this for my bedroom.
Does not play MP3s, Are you kidding me? The product description says "Plays digital media files directly from USB drives and SD memory cards." What it doesn't say is that if you're using an MP3 player or an SD card of MP3 files, the unit won't recognize it. I bought this for the specific purpose of playing MP3s from my Walkman through my home stereo. As popular as MP3s are today, how can they make a unit that doesn't play them? Unbelievable. It's going back tomorrow.
Poor Quality, (What's this?) This is system is antiquated and is of poor quality. Probably should have discontinued this in the 90's. This system not compatible with most tv's out.
DO NOT BUY THIS! It truly is garbage, (What's this?) I read review after review and decided this one seemed like a good choice. WRONG! I should have made sure this thing worked before I set it all up and placed everything, but I didn't. The speaker wires are built into a patch that you plug into the back of the unit and 3 of them didn't work and the two front speakers that did, well... they would short out with the slightest movement and yes I had then hooked in properly.
Also, when the radio was on, somehow the tv sound bled through the system. I had several other issue, but these were the biggest. I boxed this up and went straight to walmart and saw an RCA brand for the same price, bought it and it worked perfectly! I set it up, no issues and it sounds great. Also has HDMI direct so that was a great deal and everything works :) Everything this Coby has and MORE!

Save your time and money and do NOT purchase any Coby brand products. I know I will never do it again.
*****great for the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$!, (What's this?) works nicely, remotes kinda slow, great features and ease of setup( 1 yellow cord from sound system to tv, 1 red and 1 white cable from cable box to sound system is all it took to set up dvd,cd,radio, cable tv, in working order). kinda low sound would suggest buying 2 better speakers for the front side speakers and using the tv speakers along with system to enhance or make louder. once customized the way you want it sounds great. happy for the money it cost. only thing missing in my opinion is an hdmi hookup for the hi def. visual.
    Great,

Cables Unlimited AUD-1100-25 3.5mm Male to Male Stereo Cable (25 Feet, Black)

Functional, (What's this?) Bought these for an old computer which did not have an hdmi port to connect to the television. Used these along with a vga cable to connect my laptop to my television. Transmits sound just fine.
Poor fit into headphone/speaker jack, (What's this?) I use this cable to stream audio from my computer to my TV. The ends of this cable do not fit properly into my computer headphone/speaker jack, so the sound goes in and out, playing alternately from my computer speakers and my TV speakers. It looks as if the cable arrived with slightly bent ends--I assume this is the cause of the poor fit.
Pin broke off inside computer, (What's this?) Unfortunately this broke within 3 weeks, leaving the pin inside the computer. Now we can't get the pin out, and therefore can't use the sound on the laptop we connected it to. I bought this for my teenage son, so don't know if he did something wrong. But the way it broke off (the pin separated from the plastic plug around it) makes me think it's not a good idea to use this to connect any electronic device you don't feel OK about destroying.
Completely worth the money, (What's this?) Based on the quality of the cable itself, I would have given this a 3 star but due to the price, you really can't beat it. Plus, you're not likely to find audio cables that are very strong anyways. Plenty enough length to run it from my pc to my tv and it works perfectly.
Terrible and does not work., (What's this?) This cable does not work, not even a little bit. The wires are poking through the covering. This was not even worth the low price I paid.
For Long Distance audio, (What's this?) This is a great prouduct for long distance audio for ipod, iphone male to male adaptopion.
Just what I needed, (What's this?) This 25' cord alowed me to connect my dest top computer to my surround sound system. Now I can watch shows on the computer and listen to it with surround sound.
worked great, (What's this?) a short note. this is a quality cable and worked as it should. I would not hesitate to order a "Cables Unlimited" product again.
Save your MONEY - Poor Quality and Limited uses Cable, (What's this?) The seller's performance was what I expect, that's why I added a star giving it a total of 2 stars. However, the product itself is junk as a do all cable. It might be OK for some applications, but if you are looking to listen to sound from a quality system, this is not the product for you. Using this cable on a preamp to PC so you can use your 7.
Great, (What's this?) Everything works great. You can not purchase this anywhere on the street for this kind of money. No complaints here.

Shure M97xE High-Performance Magnetic Phono Cartridge

Nice sound at a bargain price, (What's this?) I needed to replace the phono cartridge on my turntable that had been in storage for twenty years. I didn't want to spend a lot since my plan was to simply digitize my vinyl LP collection and then permanently retire the turntable and vinyl LPs. The installation of the M97xE was straightforward but the instructions made no reference to the alignment protractor thats folded up and hidden under the foam carrier inside the case.
For the music nut on a budget, (What's this?) I have used many sure products and they have yet to let me down this is a fine cartridge set to give that brr than digital sound on a budget. It makes a moderate turn table sound like a $1000 + turn table.
Use with My USB Turntable, (What's this?) I use this item with my Audio Technica ATLP120 USB turntable and have ripped many a record to .wav file with it. I think it accurately transmits the recording quality of the original record and I have no complaints about it (even the leading brush is a nice touch and I can see it collect particles). Just make sure that your turntable's arm is counter-weighted properly, so that the needle doesn't dig in or touch too lightly.
Shure M97xE, (What's this?) The first one I received had a very crooked cantilever assembly, so the stylus was maybe close to 6+ degrees off from vertical. I've never had to return anything from Amazon before but I must admit it was a breeze. I was very satisfied with their return process. The second one I got had an aligned cantilever but the stylus tip is welded on noticeably crooked.
sureM97xE High Performance Magnetic Phono Cartridge, (What's this?) Excellent cartridge I can hear the noticeable difference. Installation was easier than I had anticipated. I am back in the groove now. Get it? Back in the groove.
good quality cart. for the price, (What's this?) I am very pleased with this cartridge; it was more than I expected for the price. I wanted a replacement needle for my Shure ML 140HE but the replacement needles are no longer made and the ones available on line sell for $150 and up...I saw this as a less expensive alternative, to try out, as I do not play my vinyl records as often as I use to anyway...the cartridge has a very smooth refined sound similar to other quality Shure cartridges, of the past;...I did find it to be somewhat slow,...I thought it was the turntable speed at first but I checked that and it was about right, ...it may be because the cartridge is new though and the rubber parts need to loosen up a bit....
    Distorted, (What's this?)
    Absolutely stunning!, (What's this?)
BEST CARTIDGE FOR THE $$, (What's this?)
Top Secret: How to turn the M97xE into a HiFi Giant Killer..., (What's this?) Forget all the $300 plus cartridges promoting themselves as the last word in sonic revelation. All you need is this cartridge. But there is a secret to getting the sort of sound from the M97xE that will truly satisfy that vinyl craving. And here it is: it's all in the replaceable stylus. Remove the stock cartridge, and put it away for safekeeping. Replace it with a "JICO SAS needle 77x3-Dsas-N97xe for Shure M97xE" which is not currently available on Amazon, but can be found from at least two reputable online stores.

  • Viscous-damped dynamic stabilizer maintains uniform distance between cartridge and record
  • Die-cast-aluminum mounting block; includes mounting hardware and leaning brush
  • Side-Guard system prevents stylus damage if cartridge accidentally slides across LP
  • Accurately reproduces difficult musical passages, particularly in high-frequency range
  • High-performance phono cartridge with finely polished elliptical diamond tip

Among the M97xE's most notable features is a viscous-damped dynamic stabilizer, which maintains a uniform distance between the cartridge and the record under difficult playing conditions, such as those caused by warped records or a mismatched tonearm mass. Should the stabilizer prove unnecessary, listeners can lock it in the detent position, which can, under ideal playing conditions, ensure even better sound quality. The cartridge also offers a die-cast-aluminum mounting block for secure, vibration-free attachment to the tonearm, along with a Side-Guard stylus protection system that helps prevent stylus damage if the cartridge accidentally slides across a record. The latter feature responds to side thrusts on the stylus by withdrawing the entire cantilever and tip safely into the stylus housing before the cantilever can be damaged. The superb-tracking, neutral, smooth-sounding M97xE magnetic phono cartridge is designed to provide hours of undistorted, enjoyable listening without fatiguing the ear or tiring the mind. The cartridge accurately reproduces the most difficult musical packages, particularly in the high-frequency range where audio modulations are the smallest and stylus tip movement is the most rapid. This precise tracking ability is made possible by Shure's unique Type II low-mass, thin-wall, aluminum-alloy stylus cantilever, in addition to its precision-crafted, finely polished elliptical diamond tip.

Sony SSF-5000 Floor Standing 3-way Speaker (Pair)

Great Buy, (What's this?) I read the reviews from others both on and off this site before purchasing this product.
good speaker - great value, (What's this?) I purchased these speakers to replace a pair of 20 year old Advents that had plain worn out. The Advents were $250 each and were great for their day. These Sony's were far less expensive and are performing flawlessly for my needs (front speakers home theater AVR1312 Denon). Even though not the beautiful wood construction of my Advents, these are very clean and neat looking, matching all the black components of today's products. I am very happy with these speakers and would recommend them for any home listening needs. I used the SS-B1000 for the rear surround - very nice...
A Real Bargain, (What's this?) These are real floor speakers with both highs and lows as well as mid-range- and this is the pair with the smaller speakers. Worth every penny, and more.
Great sound at a great price!, (What's this?) Not gonna write a lot here because most has already been said, but these are superb sounding. They put out very detailed highs with nith full mids and pretty good lows, though nothing earth shattering. I will say this though, these need some pretty good wattage to produce their full potential. Other than that, these are really the best speakers in their price range. Oh, and I have this paired with the Sony saw-3000 powered 12" sub. Sounds great for movies and music.
SONY FLOOR 5000 STANDING SPEAKERS, (What's this?) VERY GOOD QUALITY, GREAT SOUND WOULD RECCOMMEND THESE TO EVERYONE WHO ARE THINKING OF BUYING NEW SPEAKERS, WHAT CAN I SAY THERE GREAT.
Boomboom, (What's this?) WOW good sound, great look, good weight per tower. This item gives you club style sound, or THX quality sound. I bought the bookshelf speakers and was satisfied with the product that I had to buy the towers.
bang per buck, (What's this?) Cons: dull, muffled sound.
Pros: how much would you pay for a finished tuned port cabinet w/ a decent-sized woofer?

Replace the tweeters with something reasonable and you'll get the highs and clarity of a 2-3 times more expensive speaker. (I put in pyle pdbt38 @ $30/ea -- not "klipsch" highs, but pretty good definition. I might play with the crossovers next just to see how much I can squeeze out of these things.)

Keep in mind, I'm not driving them at 500W (or some other ridiculous power rating) and +160dB noise levels. I live in an urban apartment, I want high SPL and clear sound at -25dB.
Great quality speakers, (What's this?) I have used these speakers for about a week and I am very happy with them. Even when turned up loud there wasn't any distortion and the music sounded great. I listened to them first with my sub woofer turned off. They have decent bass coming from them, but it does make for a better listening experience if you have a powered sub woofer to compliment these.
Awesome sound for the coin, (What's this?) I hooked these up with a Pioneer VSX-521-K 5.1 home theater receiver, Sony SA-W2500 woofer
and a Toshiba 55 inch 3D LED. They sound very good for the money and all and all seem very
crisp and again, I must remind everyone these are not $1500 Klipsch, they are basically a
$120 speakers so keeping that in mind, they are a very good cheap option for a Dad like me
with kids eating me out of the house. Watching a 3D movie is a awesome experience with all
of these components all on a budget (with the exception of the Toshiba 3D LED).
Very good speakers - Great value, (What's this?) Clean, clear and crisp sound. I replaced a 20 year old pair of 3-way floor standing Fisher speakers that had 12 inch woofers for the base so lower volume had better lows. But I moved my passive Klipsch sub to a better position in line with the pair of Sony's and all is well. In fact, I bought the Sherwood RX-4105 and that is fantastic! Better THD than advertised, actually 0.04%. The Sony speakers on output A, the Klipsch sub on output B. I shut down B if I really want to crank the volume and fill the room with sound and feel like I'm at a concert.

Panasonic SC-HTB520 2.1-Channel SoundBar Speaker System with Wireless Kelton Subwoofer

Great sound without a bunch of speakers!, (What's this?) I purchased this product for a couple of reasons, first it was panasonic, goes with my panasonic plasma tv and blu-ray, next was the price, got it on cyber monday, the price was right. It showed up on time as promised, pretty much took it out of the box, plugged it in (hdmi cables), power cord and shazam, sounds great, wireless sub is very convenient being able to put where you want and does have the lows/rumble for a great sound. The sound bar is crisp and very clear, amazing. The room size is roughly 15'x18'. Highly rcommended, I have also been one to believe that any brand made is meant to enhance itself with that brands components, for me, all mine is Panasonic, so far so good and no regrets.
Great, wireless compact sound system., (What's this?) The system is easy to install and love the wireless system. Looks great and the sound is fantastic to enhance my Panasonic 3D HDTV.
It's better than the speakers of my Panasonic TV, (What's this?) I was concerned that the speakers in our new 60 inch Panasonic TV would not be adequate. That was the case, therefore the choice to include a new sound bar was the right one. I would describe the sound bar is only adequate.
Awesome Product!!!!!, (What's this?) Our TV room is small, thus I didn't want the expense of a surround a sound system. The sound bar and subwoofer are worth the price!!!!! Its hard to beleive all that sound is coming from the sound bar/subwoofer.
Subwoofer arrived DEAD, (What's this?) The subwoofer turns on and wirelessly connects (green light is ON), but no sound (bass) comes out. Apparently, a "dead" subwoofer is a common problem with this system, as one can see by reading the product's feedback. I returned to Amazon for a refund.
excellent sound bar, (What's this?) If you have a Panasonic TV with vera link,, you want this Panasonic sound bar. You can set up your TV to operate the sound bar from the TV remote.
Much better than I expected., (What's this?) To be honest, I didn't know what to expect. I've never (to my knowledge) watched a TV that had an external sound system. I'd been looking at this one for about a month. When I got a Christmas bonus at work, I decided to take the plunge. I'm extremely glad that I did.

I followed the instructions from the sound bar and my TV (a 50" Panasonic TC-P50U1) and it just wouldn't come on. I was using an HDMI cable and I incorrectly assumed that since my TV had Viera Link, that the HDMI cable was all that it took. I called the Panasonic help line. The first person that I talked to was with the sound group. She was completely unhelpful. She was obviously just reading the manual to me. She eventually transferred me to the plasma group. After a while, she told me that my TV didn't have HDMI that supported ARC (audio return channel) and that I would need an optical audio cable. I was upset that my 2 year old Panasonic TV would need the extra cable but my daughter was already at Wal-Mart so I had her get me one for $16.
Bad Quality Control and pathetic customer service, (What's this?) I bought this unit to compliment my panasonic HDTV. I was happy that I did'nt need to use the supplied remote. If you connect your panasonic TV via HDMI, you can use the Panasonic TV remote to control the volume of the sound bar. This was a big factor for me.However, once I recieved the sound bar my nightmares started. Initially the remote that came with the unit did not work. I purchased new battery but that did not help. I called Panasonic's pathetic customer support and a week later they sent a replacement remote. That didnt work either. At this point, I figured this is a problem with the IR sensor on the sound bar itself.
Another dead subwoofer, I was really excited when I bought this sound bar to go with my Panasonic TC-P60S30. Setup was easy and the unit looks great with my plasma. My excitement turned to disappointment really quick when I turned the unit on and noticed the subwoofer was inoperative. Green light was on, but no sound. Double checked all connections, moved units, and tried rebooting....still nothing. Went on line and found out several other people had the same problem! Doesn't look like this is an isolated problem.
Sound bars compared., (What's this?) I have been in market for a soundbar for past 2 months.I had Yamaha Receiver and polk speakers which needs replaced by a soundbar to cut the clutter. As i already had true surround system,i will compare on various brand i have experience with before settling down to two major brands.
Note:All below comparision is at low volume. At high volume (Cant be used except testing)all below perform well.

    LG lsb316
    pros:
*Selling feature is added Bluetooth support.I can use this for transferring sound from computer to sound bar.
    *Nice bass better then Samsung.
*Sound is good but not enough surround.
I played Samsung and LG side by side for a week.Changing in between the two while playing movie.I wanted to keep Samsung, but because of Bluetooth, kept LG.

Cons:Sound is very thin.Thin in sense,it produces only voice in low volume.

    Samsung HW-d450
    Pros:
*Almost equal to LG,but little better in dialogs.Bass is not adequate.
    *Sleek and stylish.

Cons:No Bluetooth. But if not bothered by Bluetooth, then one can buy with no hesitation.
Samsung TV Remote doesn't work.So need extra remote all time.

    Panasonic HTB520
    Pros:
*I couldn't find any thing except powerful sub woofer.
    * Audio Return Channel (ARC) feature.
    Cons:
    * Expensive
*Sound is really thin.Plain dialogs. No ups and downs with background music. Not at all surround. Not better then my Samsung PN51D490 TV Speakers.

    VIZIO vsb210W
    Pros:
*Great Surround sound. When i played first time,i felt the sound like a movie theater sound. But i was testing with VSB200.

Sony ICF-SW7600GR AM/FM Shortwave World Band Receiver with Single Side Band Reception, plus External Plug-in Antenna

Mediocre Radio, (What's this?) I bought the Sony ICF SW7600GR for two reasons: one, because for years it's been popular among radio enthusiasts (DXers and SWLers), and two, because it probably will not be available for much longer. This is the only shortwave radio Sony presently makes, and it may be the last the company will ever make. I wanted to see what all the hype was about while there was still time.

The unit is fairly impressive in its build quality. There are no wobbly buttons or loose wheels. The body seems solid and weighty and the switches reliable.
Dissatisfied, (What's this?) I ordered this Shortwave radio and it was delivered without the AC adaptor.
Nice, but...., Treating myself to this radio, a few years ago, it has served me pretty well. However, the critter eats batteries. If you can find one, purchase an AC adapter.
Nearly 5 Stars (a couple of glitches - still great!), (What's this?) First the good points - and focus on these. I'd buy this again, knowing what I know now. It's just that I'd be aware of a couple of things that need to be known prior to purchase. The radio itself is great! It's well constructed (not some light weight, cheap, thin and brittle plastic cased wannabe short wave radio. This is relatively expensive and well worth the money. It's been on the market for a number of years, and keeps getting very high marks by such people as ham radio operators who know radios and know what to look for.

Sound out of a small speaker is adequate - not worse than one might expect (and shouldn't expect much more). What's most impressive is the frequency stability - drift is almost non-existent on mine. Sideband is outstanding, particularly in this price range. We bought ours primarily for emergency purposes in case of a wide-scale or extended power outage, but it's turning out to be "fun" for this former ham radio operator that's still kind of picky.

Sensitivity is quite good. CAUTION: if you aren't familiar with shortwave propagation, study up on it just a bit on the Internet or you'll be very disappointed and do what some other reviewers have apparently done. Depending on time of day, solar storm activity, and other factors, different bands have different characteristics. Sometimes you can scan up, and up, and up (or down), and never have it lock on to a single signal. There are times when some bands are simply "dead," and at other times those same bands (frequency ranges) can pull in signals from all over the world. This is NOT something that Sony has any control with.
What an odd antenna connector, (What's this?) I have one of these fine radios. I have many, many portable decent
shortwave radios, and this is one of the best.

Still, there is one thing that bugs me. The Antenna Connector has an
extra ring, apparently for an antenna preamp. But that would seem to
make it very troublesome to hook up an ordinary sleeve and tip connector.

I tried to use it with a 2 pin connector, and things seem to work,
but has anyone ever seen the preamp!

Apart from that it's a better than average small radio. Batteries seem
    to last forever.
sony ICF-SW7600GR AM/FM, (What's this?) This radio works very good and has done everything that i would expect from a compact device and then some . I think with an even better antena it would far exceed my expectations . I wish sony made an AC adapter for this but you can get an aftermarket one that seems to work just fine .
Not much better than my old Sony model ICF SW10., (What's this?) Thinking that it was time to upgrade my 13 year old Sony SW radio, I went for this model. I find the operation to be rather inconvenient, i.e., complicated, and some of the features of no particular value compared to the old one. Furthermore, it is very HEAVY, which matters to me, as I often carry it on overseas travels. Overall the purchase was probably a mistake, although not a disaster. The old model I could easily tune while lying in bed with eyes closed!! The replacement, with all of its many buttons, requires more attention. Even though the preset feature and the scan feature should be beneficial, so far I find them to be of little value. I've owned the new model about 6 weeks.
Good device, (What's this?) Good device.
The perfect combination of price and quality.
Sony keeps its quality is not Chinese.
I bought 5 pieces all work fine.
Sony icf sw7600gr, (What's this?) Very nice radio. The other reviews were spot on. I really like
the scan functions and SSB capability. For a small portible radio that handles shortwave you can't go wrong.
Now if shortwave would make a comeback it would be great! The FM and AM work fine too.
Sony ICF-SW7600GR AM/FM Shortwave Radio, (What's this?) The Sony ICF-SW7600GR is without doubt one of the best AM/FM/Shortwave radios I have seen. My favorite station which is a classical station moved to a new transmitter and frequency but with lower power. Even in my car, which always received this station fine, reception is now plagued by fading and noise. The Sony ICF-SW7600GR receives this station clearly whether in the house or out in the car. I tested the shortwave reception by comparing it to my Icom IC-756 ham radio and was amazed at the performance. Yes, the Sony was hearing SSB stations on the 7.185 Mhz net with just the rod antenna; I didn't expect to hear anybody. Now bare in mind, I have a 120 foot long wire attached to my Icom and the Icom cost over a thousand dollars. Anyway, to make this short, I love this little radio and would recommend it to anyone.

SANUS SYSTEMS BF-31B Wood Speaker Stands

good concept, mediocre quality, (What's this?) This is a cool looking stand and is very functional. But the quality is compromised as the stands cracked right away, during assembly.
These stands are pretty decent but one design flaw, (What's this?) I read the reviews prior to purchasing these stands and was aware of the wood splitting issue. While assembling I kept that in mind. There's one split but it is only visible if you are close to the stand. The stands are very sturdy and they fit my speakers perfectly. The only disappointment was that my 16 guage speaker wires do not fit through the bottom of the actual speaker stand, they fit through the base though (bad design flaw imo). Otherwise the stands are great.
good stands for me, (What's this?) Even with some reviews talking about how the wood splits or problems with assembly I didn't have any problems. The box was easy to open. The pieces were clean and looked really nice. I didn't use any drills just hand tightened the screws in. I used a extra cardboard box to lay the long sections on since I was screwing it in by myself. No cracked or broken pieces. The stand is stable with the four pegs on the bottom. The speakers fit well on top. Yes a good hit or some kid running around will knock them over but that's pretty much any stand. You'd need to wall mount them to avoid that. Overall it looks great, places the speakers higher up and nothing was broken. Can't ask for much more than that. I haven't used the wiring system yet and probably won't since the speakers are right next to the tv and the other 4 are against the walls.
Nice stands - easy assembly., (What's this?) These speaker stands come flat-packed - assembly required.
Assembly is easy - just turn some screws (Phillips head) and in about 10-20 minutes you will have a pair of speaker stands.

What I like: Tall stands with adequate speaker wire covering.
Not so great: the top plate is very small. I recommend museum wax or Velcro to hold the speakers on the top of these stands. The rubber grips are a nice choice for small speakers but don't provide a base for larger speakers.

Other: When I opened the box the parts gave off a strong chemical smell - the smell went away after a day. Be warned if you are sensitive to chemical smells you will need to air these out before putting them close to you.
great value, (What's this?) took me 20 minutes to put together.i did not have any problems with the simulated wood spliting that i read in past reveiws..i hand turned the screws just enough to line up with the pre drill holes and finish screwing them in with a drill slowly..the hole for the speaker wire was large enough go fit my 14gauge wire...i have med size bookshelf speakers and the stands are stable..for tbe price you cant go wrong.
Good stands... with a little outside help, (What's this?) I read all the reviews about the stands splitting. I wasn't sure if it was because people were using power tools improperly or if it was a flaw by design.

I didn't take any chances. I took a drill bit and made the holes slightly larger... and I mean SLIGHTLY. When I did get around to putting the screws in with my drill, I took it very slowly and ensured the screws were straight. I didn't' over tighten the screws either. Once the drill gave resistance, it was done.

The stands don't wobble at all, and it's quite sturdy. I have hardwoods, so I didn't install the carpet spikes. Instead, I installed four large vinyl bumpers on the bottoms of each stand. Got those from Home Depot.

On the top, I followed someone else's recommendation and bought the Blu-Tack Reusable Adhesive to better secure my speakers to the small platform. Works like a dream.

I don't like that I had to MacGyver my way to a good speaker stand, but the stand itself is fine. Just follow the above steps if you plan on using large bookshelf speakers or using these on hardwoods.
TOTAL JUNK!!, I know these were only $40,but come on!!..These are not even close to being "wood"
As soon as I attempted to put a screw in,the "wood" split about 3 inches!!
These are made for the little cube speakers,NOT bookshelf speakers,I would never attempt to place a 15lb speaker on these, they would probably fall apart!!...
EASY TO ASSEMBLE, NO CRACKS, ATTRACTIVE STANDS, (What's this?) These were very easy to assemble with the help of very simple and clear instruction (again, simple and clear). The parts were efficiently packaged and neatly presented.

So you don't damage the parts (split, cracks, etc), ONLY USE HAND SCREWDRIVER to tighten the pieces together (don't over torque them either)... and follow directions. I'm not sure why so many owners have had difficult time putting stands together without damaging them. Therefore, don't let those reviews deterring you from buying this fine product.

As some may have mentioned, you may want to put the base spikes in first before putting other pieces together. That way, you don't put the stress on the other parts while trying to hammer the spikes down. The pre-drilled holes for the spikes were a little snug so I had to widen the holes a little (by gently twirling the screwdriver in the holes for a handful of rounds). Then I lightly hammered those bad boys down... worked perfectly.

These have been nicely housing my KLH 911 (about 6 X 6.5 IN base/15 pounds) bookshelf speakers for my budget home theater.
Good for the Price, (What's this?) These are fine medium/small speaker stands. Sure beats having my rear speakers sitting on the floor. I recommend these. Their nothing too fancy, but sure do the task and are well crafted.
Assembly a little difficult without splitting wood, (What's this?) The speaker stands are reasonably priced. I wish there were more options available on wood stains but they go well with my pioneer speakers. I have assembled a lot of wood products and these are almost impossible to assemble without splitting wood. I managed to hide the split with a permanent marker and don't believe it effected the integrity of the speaker stands.

Aluratek AIREC01F WiFi Internet Radio - Home Theater Edition (Black)

OK for internet Radio - does not Stream WMP12 files, OK - here's the background. Several years ago I ripped all of my CD's (about 450 or so) onto the hard drive of my computer and purchased a Roku Soundbridge. There were some initial start up issues, but once they were resolved the Roku quickly became my favorite gadget purchase of all time. I had phenomenal sound (it was being served wirelessly and it in turn was feeding a Teac receiver via the optical output, which was powering some Polk S10s) and I had full access to all of my music, all of my playlists, etc.... I owned the thing for a couple months before I even tried the internet radio, and then I was hooked on that too. It would pretty much find any radio station that was on the internet. Plus it looked good sitting on top of the receiver.

Fast forward 4 or 5 years, and one day the Roku just died.
Love the concept, Radio is quirky?, (What's this?) My radio got to me in about a week. I had read that the first thing you should do is get a firmware upgrade. I did. It comes zipped. The radio would not recognize it. I unzipped and it was happy. The radio is kinda a puzzle at best. They talk about ease of use, but you are on your own to figure out the remote. It works okay when you figure it out. The unit is not super sensitive. I am still working on a position. It is hooked up to a HD Radio's aux port. Together they represent the cheapest in new technology. They also sound great together. Most audio sounds great and the bigger stream the better. This thing rarely times out. Some reviewers have got them selves in a sweat over the vtuner site that indexes for the radio. That site is a simple place for data. It is owned separately and is the backbone for a whole bunch of radios that pretty much work like this one. You can go to <...> and enjoy internet radio and tv, but you will need a pc in front of you. That's exactly why I got this tuner. (Technically not a radio, not a real amp.) NOW THE GOOD STUFF. This internet radio stuff is addicting. Stations from around the globe. I stayed up on a Sunday night and listened to the British morning Christian radio shows. Awesome stuff. Music around the world is really neat to listen too. Yes there is too much to listen too. Yes it may be gone tomorrow. It reminds me of early satellite. Listen to it while it works and while stations are willing to put it out. I did hook this little guy up to a home stereo and it sounded fine. SOME INTERESTING STUFF. Tear drop design is a little weird. Plug in to aux and wall and get started. Oops have fun with remote.
Update- A couple of weeks of usage. Well its real problem is that its not to sensitive. All my other wireless items love my Motorola surfboard router. This item is more near my router than all my other stuff. But on its meter I get 4 out five bars. Oh well, sometimes on first power up it gets a lock on database or station. If it just has to go to a station you get a better rate of clean starts. If it has to go to vtuner it can get messy. If it fails to lock, just restart. This is much easier than reentering data for router, witch it will ask if it fails awhile. I think proximity to router will take care of this problem. I am used to it and fairly easy to restart.
wonderful, (What's this?) Very simple and easy to set up and use , so good in fact I purchased two for my home . So much music out there that we were missing not to mention news and old time radio programs . I love this device . I am not an IT person by any stretch yet I had this thing working in five minutes .
not worth it, This product has a problem connecting to a wifi signal. Attempted to resolve the issue twice with Aluratek tech support but they were less than helpful. The unit would not function as it should have so returned it. Do not recommend this item.
Decent product, (What's this?) Decent product. Some IP and DNS issues but generally works well, streaming is good without any interruptions. Screen could be larger. Could be bettre if the USB port was located in front. Definitely good value for money.
    excellent opcion, (What's this?)
Had it out of the box and listening to the radio in minutes!, (What's this?) I hooked this up to my receiver, used the radio's set up menu, and had the wireless up and running in about 5 minutes. Since I haven't had this for long, I can't comment on it's longevity. But right out of the box it has performed flawlessly.
seamlessly integrated into my media, (What's this?) I have only used this as a way to stream internet radio through my stereo at work without using my computer. (I do computationally intensive work which often slows down music streaming software on the computer.) It is superb at that. I connected it to the web via ethernet cable and to my stereo by RCA plugs. 5 clicks later I was able to listen to my favorite stations/music from around the world. I use it daily and it has not dropped a song once.

Caveat - I have not installed its software on my computer, tried to stream MP3 from my computer to it, or attached an MP3 player to it. So I cannot review those functions.
Easy set up- great value, (What's this?) This is my second internet receiver- my other one is the Grace IRA-500. The Grace unit costs about $20 -$40 more, depending on when and where you buy it, and is the better receiver (especially since it has Pandora access) but this Aluratek fit the bill for what I wanted as a bedroom unit for late night talk radio and sports: inexpensive, easy to navigate and reliable. I'm generally a ludite when it comes to anything technology related but I had this unit playing within 5 minutes of opening the box. Highly recommended as a basic, inexpensive internet receiver.
Disappointing, (What's this?) I'm a fan of the Aluratek AIRMM01F clock internet radio -- have *two* of them installed around and get great performance. So when I decided to add an internet tuner to the audio rig at my office, this was the obvious choice. From appearances, it seemed to be the same tuner as that contained in the clock internet radio -- but after ordering and then returning the unit, that does not appear to be the case. After doing side by side comparison, this unit does not have the chops. Got way poorer reception -- background clicks under the signal where all there is is silence with the AIRMM01F. That's unacceptable.

So after working with the unit, trying to find a way to quiet it down, I returned it to the seller.

Audio gear needs to provide a silent stage from which to enjoy the programming. This Aluratek AIREC01F failed to do so.

My advice is to go with the AIRMM01F. I'm happy with both of them working in separate locations.

  • No monthly fees or subscription costs
  • Instant access to over 11,000 radio stations around the world
  • Easy install and setup

Sony STRDH520 7.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver (Black)

    Awesome investment, (What's this?)
Excellent Xmas Gift, (What's this?) I got this for my dad for Xmas. His previous one was from 1978 and it finally died. He is able to hook up all his speakers, cd player, tv, and even a turn table. You can't beat the price at all plus Sony is a great name in Electronics and it'll last very long I am sure. I wish these things didn't have to be so bulky but oh well. I do not recommend ordering from Amazon though on this item. First, it was damaged via UPS delivery. I had to call and find out why it wasn't delivered yet to get the true story of what happened. At that point they had to place a new order and everything.
Pretty good bang for buck, but not that easy to set up, (What's this?) Wanted a new receiver to compliment my other new home entertainment/HTPC setup. Wanted an inexpensive receiver to connect everything via HDMI. Took a little while and a little instruction reading to figure out how to get everything just right. The menu system on the receiver is pretty confusing, but I guess the little bit of work is countered by the lower price tag. Only have had it installed for a couple of days, but performance seems good.

    Pros:

-The price - lots of features for the cost
-If using HDMI, reduces the mess of wires used in RCA/Component-based setups
-HDMI Pass-thru - This is a great feature. I was concerned that I would have to leave the receiver on at all times, but if you turn pass-thru feature on, it will pass-thru the HDMI signal, even if the receiver is in standby (sleep) mode. This basically means you can choose to only use sound output from TV if you dont want to used your external HT speakers.

    Cons:

-If connecting your HTPC, the receiver didn't seem to like a high refresh rate. Mine was set to 60hz, and the screen displayed some blotching that would come and go as the PC refreshed the screen rate. I dropped the refresh rate down to 30hz and it seems to have addressed the blotching.
    - Menu system is messy and hard to navigate, and requires the receiver remote.
    - I have a bravia TV, but couldnt figure out how to get the "Bravia sync" feature to work.

All in all, I am pretty happy with the purchase. This doesnt have all the features of some of the newer receivers, but for roughly 1/2 the price, you get most of the major benefits needed for newer components. The sound output is more than I needed for my application, so mostly thumbs up. Would have given 5 stars had Sony spent a little extra time and implemented an on-screen set up to make things a little less confusing.
Terrific A/V receiver for the price; even better when connected to recent Sony devices..., (What's this?) The overall sound and features of this receiver are an excellent package at this price. And if you are pairing this with other Sony components via HDMI, it smartly synchronizes input sources, volume and power settings resulting in an awesome user experience.

Getting this receiver up and running was relatively easy. Mine replaced a 13-year old Yamaha model that still worked well, but did not have an HDMI connector or surround sound speaker input in sight (but proudly displayed its "Phono" and "Laser Disc" inputs from the last century!).

I placed the STRHD520 in a system to deliver audio and video from a cable provider's HD/DVR combo box, a Sony Blu-ray player and a Sony LED television.
REASONABLE and POWERFUL!, (What's this?) Sony STRDH520 7.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver.
Great reciever at a great price, (What's this?) I actually just needed just a 5.1 receiver to replace my exisiting one that had 4 HDMI inputs, so I am not using the the 7.1 and Channel 3D features but are nice to have if I decide to upgrade and use them in the future. They have 20 different speaker configurations available to cover everything from anyone could possibly want and about the only downside I found was knob connections for the 2 front main speakers, but I assume you need these if you have high end speakers.

I have a DirecTV, DVD, Xbox and Roku HDMI connected through it and every single one works great with both the video and sound, so I was able to get rid of almost half of my connection cables I use to have.

I don't think you will find a better receiver than this one at this price and almost all the negative reviews on this product are from people thinking they should have features of one that are double the price, like being able to convert a component video input to a HDMI output.
PRODUCT WAS DEFECTIVE, (What's this?) Must of just received a bad one.
Good for the price - But somewhat limited., (What's this?) This is certainly a great receiver if you need something to handle a TV and a couple of other devices. Sound quality is great for modest speaker setups, and the Dolby decoder does an excellent job. However, it's lacking in inputs and doesn't have much flexibility for multiple non-HDMI devices. For the price, this is to be expected and it won't be a problem for most people. But since I didn't see these things mentioned in previous reviews, I'll list them here:

    * Component inputs will not be converted and passed through to HDMI to the TV. If you use component inputs, you need another component cable running to the TV. I know, no big surprise, no other receivers at this price point will do that either.

    * No phono/pre-amp input. Again, not a big deal, if you're one of the few people that still uses a turntable (like me), you'll need to buy a separate pre-amp.

    * A maximum of 4 video-capable devices can be plugged into this receiver. Practically speaking, at least two of those will have to be HDMI if you want to fully utilize this box. Component and analog inputs are extremely limited.
I wasn't so lucky..., I purchased one of these to go along with a new system. Having been an engineer for over twenty years, I'm usually pretty good at wiring things like this up. This device was to go along with a new Sony 55 inch LCD TV, a new Sony Blue Ray player, 5/2.1 speakers, a new dish network receiver (non-HD) and an X-Box Kinect.
For me this product failed in four areas:
    1) I wanted a device that would sound MUCH better than the TV speakers would alone in my very large living room. Surprisingly, it did NOT! (and , yes, I tried every one of the many sound choices and set-ups).
    2) I hoped for a system with well-written instructions. Not the case here at all.
Great receiver at a bargain price! Not high end, but definitely high value!, (What's this?) Let me first give some details, as I find them useful when reading reviews. I power a pair of Sony SS-F5000 speakers with a SA-W2500 Sony Sub-woofer with this head unit. My living room is 12' by 20'. I have a Samsung plasma mounted on the wall and Directv service. This head unit is great! The HDMI switching is great and the four HDMI inputs leave plenty of room for a sat/catv box, game machine, disc player and one more item. The lack of an on-screen display may upset savvy techies, but it doesn't take away from the performance of the unit. The features such as night mode, input naming, auto-level volume and easy sound processing mode changes are great. Once you have the unit setup, you don't really need to tweak it much.

I would recommend this unit for anyone looking for a bargain receiver. The features of this unit are NOT going to blow you away; it's definitely a lower end receiver. However, the sound that is pumps is great for the price.

Sony MHCEC909iP Mini Hi-Fi Shelf System

worthless....., (What's this?) all around nightmare... wrong shipping, sent to another county in NC, CD doesn't "read" my disc, no wonder its Japanese, and the speaker knocked my lamp over, EVEN after I followed the instructions.
Great System, I bought this shelf system off walmart (they dont include tax with the shown price so it was about $186 I think). I absolutely love this. I am a college student and wanted this for my dorm and it works great. I can hear the sound perfectly throughout my entire floor if my door is open. The sub was definitely worth the extra money. If you want that loud bass, loud speaker sound, gotta get the sub woofer. It gives the system a more full sound. Be sure to secure the sub!!!!!! Mine came with little speaker pads to prevent the speakers from moving around, but i didnt put them on at first and the sub fell off the shelf, but i happened to be right there and caught it. I secured the sub, and havent had a problem since.
Few downfalls. The speaker wires are clips like i read about in other reviews, and they arent very long. I dont know enough about these things to make longer wires but im sure it is possible. The main console/ipod dock is bigger in the back because of an external fan so it doesnt fit in the bookshelf i have, but it works perfectly on top of the shelf. For my first ever speaker system i could not be more happy with the quality from only $200. The sound is really clear after they get broken in.
Will give you the loud good sound you crave, I love this radio I got it from a warehouse store.
Savy speakers, (What's this?) the speakers are great it really fills up a room with music and it is clear.
Nice System, Missing Some Features, The system is pretty loud and has a nice punchy sound. I'm using it in a dorm room and the bass from the unit is enough to shake my door. It can relatively loud without distorting. I got it for $179.99 at Best Buy after they did a price match with Walmart, but I would say the unit is a good value. The sub is pretty compact, but the wire to connect it could be a lot longer. The other speakers are a little large but I'd rather have large drivers than compact speakers. The iPod dock is a nice feature although it can feel sort of flimsy at times. I would like the feature of having RCA inputs to connect a TV and the top loading CD player is kind of dumb, but I don't listen to CDs so its not that big of a deal. Overall its a good unit with great sound for the price, but it's very basic. Good for dorm rooms or an office. Don't expect it to compete with a nice set of bookshelf speakers and a separate amplifier though.
Great system for the price, I always said I would never buy anymore Sony audio equipment after one of their amps caught fire in my car years ago. I saw this stereo at Walmart almost 2 years ago for $197 and I put my iPod on the test system and put on some rap with a lot of bass to hear it. I still have the system and I listen to it everyday. It still sounds fantastic. For the ones complaining about the subwoofer not being loud enough, you need to find another location to place it. It puts out plenty of bass you can feel if it is positioned correctly. I bump this daily and I have not blown the speakers. When you first get it don't judge it on the sound quality, give it a month or so to break in the speakers and you will be blown away. Not much else to say. Look for this one at Walmart in a few weeks (around Christmas or other holidays) and it is always on sale for under $150.
Beautiful!, I've had this stereo for about three years now and I absolutely adore it. I've recently tested other stereos and for this price nothing on the market, even now, trumps it. Turned up all the way the sound quality is still immaculate. It's easily stackable in any formation so it doesn't take up too much space. It's easy to use. I'm in love. Highly recommended.
Excellent Book Shelf Speaker System, This is an Excellent bedroom sound system with amazing bass quality and very good voice clarity at different volume levels.
Its value for money. Only drawback is that the CD needs to be loaded from top. It works with iPhone 4 and 4th generation iPod touch.
enjoy music, (What's this?) I like a lot this mini Hi-Fi Shelf System, very funtional, and the rigth price. Sony is a good brand.
This is decent, When i first got this i was very happy because it replaced my little radio. After about a month i had begun really listening to music and this just didnt sound as well. The bass on it is pretty good, but dont let the 12 inch sub fool you, doesnt create as much as you think. Dont let the wattage fool you either, it is not to loud. So as of now i am looking into a home audio system.
    So to sum it up..

1)Very good replacement for a radio
2)The bass is decieving, but still decent when the bass booster setting is on, on my ipod.
3)I have a small room, about 8x12 and it isnt to loud with any bass booster setting on.
4)You get what you pay for.

Zadro ZRA01 Fogless Shaving Shower Mirror Radio with Clock

Crackly, (What's this?) If you're tuning to a lower power radio station, this radio is quite crackly; luckily the shower drowns most of it out. It's going to Goodwill as soon as I find another radio.
Good bathroom radio., (What's this?) I have no complaints with this radio. None of my concerns have panned out. It sticks well, it sounds good, and it keeps time accurately. The mirror is not great, but that's not really why I bought it. I wanted a water resistant shower radio with a clock and this one does the job just fine.
Not fogless, (What's this?) An OK product replacing an older one that I loved, and of course, is not being made any more. This product is advertised as fogless and it fogs up wicked all the time. Otherwise it is fine and it arrived quickly and in one piece, too.
shower radio, (What's this?) For the price, this shower radio is great. Yes, there are better ones out there, but you're going to pay more for them.Great product for the price.
Great at first and then six months later, the volume would gradually turn down own its own until the sound was inaudible. We replaced the batteries to no avail.

  • Water resistant fog-free rectangular plain mirror.
  • Easy mounting with suction cups or cord, included.
